From Waste to Design: Industry Meets Art

The exhibition of the “From Industry to Art” project, initiated by the Family Business Association (TAİDER) in collaboration with İstanbul Technical University (İTÜ) to highlight the importance of sustainability, was recently opened at İTÜ’s Faculty of Architecture in Taşkışla. ONTO took part in the exhibition with a student design developed by the Industrial Design Department, created by repurposing waste materials generated during production processes.

The product functions as a stand for technological devices such as computers, while also offering a compact storage solution for organizing personal items. The design brings together aesthetics and functionality with an environmentally conscious approach.

Board Chairs Damla Aras and Can Aras attended the exhibition opening and met with students. Speaking about the project, Damla Aras said:
“This project highlights how young designers can bring new meaning to industrial waste and embrace a mindset of responsible design. It reminds us that design is not only an aesthetic pursuit but also a way of thinking with responsibility. As ONTO, we are proud to be part of this journey, blending our sustainability focus with creative ideas. We hope to see more of these productive collaborations that inspire hope for the future.”
